When I took the pictures for this painting, I thought I was photographing another beautiful home on the lake. However, I found out later that it was in fact the boathouse. The owner has a home higher up on the cliff and is accessible by road.
Rather than just focus on the building itself, I usually try and include some of the surrounding, in order to portray the ambiance of the cottage.
